Musgrove Willows run a range of courses in willow making throughout the year at our center in Westonzoyland, Somerset

Willow craft courses are priced from £35 for a half day course and include all materials, lunch and refreshments. You will come away with something beautiful, strong, environmentally-friendly and above all, very personal to you.

Courses include:

  • Creating your own garden structures
  • Hurdle weaving
  • Making your own traditional basket
  • Weaving an animal or bird sculpture
  • Living willow structures
  • Seasonal willow crafts
  • Alternatively, a day’s bird watching on the Levels with our resident bird expert

Musgrove Willows can also advise you on local accommodation for those traveling from afar.

We have hand selected some of the most experienced willow weavers in the UK to assist you during the course, so if you have any questions throughout the day or need any guidance please do not hesitate to ask them (they are a wealth of knowledge). They will ensure you have the very best instruction and help throughout your time with us at Musgrove Willows.

All full day courses start at 10am and run through to 4pm. Times are flexible though – you won’t be going home with an unfinished piece! We normally ask you to arrive between 9.30am – 9.45am to start the day off by meeting with the tutor over a hot or cold beverage, this also gives you the opportunity to discuss any ideas you may have and meet the other students.

You are welcome to refreshments throughout the day as well as a lovely home-made lunch provided by Mrs Musgrove. With this in mind when booking please can you advise us of any dietary requirements, allergies or disabilities that we should be aware of when booking to ensure that your day runs as smoothly as possible.

Please wear appropriate clothing for your course as some are held outdoors or in work sheds using steamed or wet willow rods.
If a course is full please contact us to show interest and we will try to put on another course if we have enough numbers. Likewise, if you have a group of six or more wanting to do a course all together then we would be glad to accommodate you.
We need 6 or more students attending the course to make it viable for us to run, so we reserve the right to cancel/change dates as applicable. We will move students to an appropriate course with their approval. Refunds or credit notes will be given if alternative dates are unsuitable.
At the end of your session you will have the opportunity to purchase willow, tools or books to help you master the trade at home should you wish.
