Barking Mad – Bark Baskets

Learn how and when to strip willow to achieve white willow rods and beautiful bark rolls and pieces which can then be used for a number of different baskets, weaves and pouches. A day of exploration where can experiment with a number of different techniques and produce a number of sample pieces to inform other work or 1 or 2 smaller items of a decorative nature.

On this one day course you will learn the different techniques of using bark. The £80 price includes all the materials and specialist tools required plus expert tuition. Refreshments are available throughout the day and a lovely lunch is also provided. (Please let us know of any special dietary requirements.)

At the end of the course, attendees will leave with something beautiful, environmentally-friendly and above all, very personal.

As well as taking home your own barked baskets, there will also be an opportunity to see how willow is grown and processed on our Somerset farm. Visitors are welcome to walk through our withy fields and enjoy the amazing variety of wildlife that the Somerset Levels has to offer.

At the end of the course there will be an opportunity to purchase willow, specialist tools and weaving books.
