Beginners Basketry – Ying and Yang


What is a Yin Yang basket well I use the term to describe the border that is stepped up the handle on each side creating a Yin Yang shape to the top of the basket. The course has been designed to suit beginners and intermediates with a range of bases being provided unless you would like to bring one you made previously. Recipe and information on preparing your willow will be available to take home with your finished basket.

At the end of your session you will have the opportunity to purchase willow, tools or books to help you master the trade at home should you wish.

Our one day willow craft courses start at £80. The price includes all materials, tools, lunch and refreshments. Attendees will leave with something beautiful, environmentally-friendly and above all, very personal.

Alongside expert tuitition, there will also be an opportunity to see how willow is grown and processed on our Somerset farm. Visitors are welcome to walk through our withy fields and enjoy the amazing sights and sounds of the Somerset Levels.

Our tutors are among the most experienced willow weavers in the country. They will ensure you have the very best instruction and help throughout your time at Musgrove Willows. The team is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable.

At the end of the course there will be ample opportunity to purchase willow, specialist tools and weaving books.
